Professional Experience

I worked for ten years as a civil litigation attorney, which means that I excel at problem solving and critical thinking. I have honed my persuasive skills, attention to detail, and ability thrive in stressful situations.

I have read thousands of pages of case law, contracts, and the fine print of insurance policies. I have written and argued hundreds of motions and briefs. I am trained to handle tedium and pressure.  My experience as an attorney has trained me in many skills that can translate to the classroom.

Experience with Children

As a parent, I have the hands on experience with children that can only be gained by spending time in the trenches, day in and day out, with actual kids. I completely expect teaching to be quite different from parenting, but I think I can bring a lot of insight, empathy, and understanding as a parent to both my student and to their parents.

Additionally, the amazing Simmons School of Education at SMU has provided me with several semesters of field experience, and student teaching to ensure we have as much experience and training as possible.
